Golf Clubs and Supplies

I have many sets of Golf Clubs and am looking for a nice easy way to stor my clubs for many years, but in an organized manor

The best way to store clubs in in a golf bag. No ifs ands or buts about it. Clean the clubs thoroughly and dry. Cover the grips with a plastic bag or something to keep them from rotting. Use head covers or socks if you don’t have enough covers to cover every club. Store them in a dry place. If you don’t have that many golf bags, you could build a club rack out of 2×4 and dowel rods. But make sure they are covered well.

I have been looking in many stores such as planet sport, golf house and others and was not able to find what I was looking for; Titleist iron Blades or even a retailer.

You should find easily titleist irons in golf house stores or any other golf shops around jakarta… many golf house branches in Jakarta. Kelapa Gading, taman anggrek, Plaza Indonesia.

I live in Surabaya, for sure you can call to golf tees in Surabaya… Pakuwon Golf 031-7390999 and ask the operator to speak with the receptionist… the golf tees shop are i the same location with pakuwon receptionist.

Please do NOT respond if you have never experienced any type of racism or discrimination in a golf type setting.

I’m expecting little or no answers, because there’s no such thing as racism in 2008, especially golf.

To rokroulu- Nike made the Nike One Black on Black ball. A limited edition black golf ball. It was used at the FBR open 3 years ago. I have a few of them. Anyway, dude you have to be in a bubble if you think there isn’t any racism in 2008. They keep talking about is the country ready for a black president. Hell he couldn’t do any worse than the fool America voted in the last 8 years. I’ve experienced it in a golf store. I just couldn’t browse at different equipment in peace. If I need help I’ll ask for it. That’s why I don’t buy anything in a Golf Store anymore. I’ll test it, but I’ll buy it on line.

Could I send back a set of unopened clubs to the store, without a receipt for cash, or just store credit?

Their return policy doesn’t specifically mention a receipt. I would imagine they, like many major manufacturers, have the ability to track your shipment by the order # on the box or by your credit card number.

I have dealt with them a few times on issues, they are actually very nice, there’s a good chance you’ll even talk to one of the owners! I did!

Add it all up, golfing, equipment, lunches out, anything to do with golfing, what do you actually spend a year?

Let’s see:

weekly green fee, 40 bucks, so about $2000
Balls, assorted golf nonsense $400
Annual scotland trip to play (really) $5000
(This includes airfare, car rental, B&Bs, green fees, food, stuff like that)
So, including the stuff I forgot, like driving ranges, an ocasional big purchase, like a new driver, probably about 8 or 9 grand. Gee…$9000!

I hear the mark up on Golf Clubs is close to 300% is this true or is there a more accurate figure. I was also wondering the mark up is on golf bags and balls!

If you are talking about markup at retail, 20% to 40% is the truth. When you buy a TaylorMade or other driver for $399.99. the store paid a bit over $300 for it, plus shipping/freight, plus the cost of the money sitting on the floor til it sells. Bags are about the same. Balls are even less mark up. On a $20 dozen box of Titleist SoLo for example, the store paid over $17.50 for the balls. Not too much profit.

At the manufacturing end, things are different- to a point. Sure, the head may cost $20-$50, the shaft $5-$50, a dollar or two for the grip, for a total far less than the retail (or wholesale price). However, remember that the major brands spend around $250,000,000 to $300,000,000 per year in r&d, plus the expense of pro contracts and all the marketing.

So, in the end, it is not all profit.

i.e. buy shirts that say NYSE, Nasdaq, RBS, DJIA…etc. I can’t seem to find them anywhere.
